You mean like not protecting your computer anymore -- yeah that's a big worry !

I think that you can disable that if you're running an NT based O/S like
Win 2K or XP. The NOD32KRN.exe NT *Service* program is the heart of the
application and is always running. It's the program that's doing the
protection.

The other two programs NOD32KUI.exe the Control Center and NOD32.exe On
Demand Scanner are just graphical user interfaces that allow you to set
parameters and whatnot or scan on demand and the Service program uses the
parameters that you have set.

It's that NOD32KRN.exe that's the service program that does the work and
provides the protection that those other exe's communicate with and is
the heart of the application.

I just happen to be writing .NET NT service applications and kind of know
how a service program works. The only way you would not have any
protection is if you shutdown the Service program.

It's the same thing with BlackIce I use on my laptop. I can disable the
BlackIce.exe that's in the msconfig Start-up the UI but the BlackIce NT
Service exe is still running and providing the protection.

Duane :)
