I've done two system restores, uninstalled all my hardware
drivers and reinstalled them I've spent close to 20 hours
(10 straight today)trying to fix this thing. I was looking
back over the earlier posts..one I had looked at before
and just glanced at. It had to do with the RPC not working
right. Well, thanks to Tauranian's advice I hit cnt-alt-
dlt and and there it is, msblast.exe, I coulda dropped
dead. I had responded to the post earlier because i had
the same problem and i thought I had fixed it by changing
the RPC service setting. Well I feel real stupid now and
I'm glad my post was deleted. I copied all the info he
gave and thanks again for solving my problem.

Problems I had were:
disappearing network connections
system wouldn't shut down
no access to many system programs
tons of script error pop-ups (especially here)
desktop so garbled and messed up i had to go into safe
mode to fix it
lots of error pop-ups, hangers, disconnects

I just hope I can get rid of it now :-|

Steve;
This is a good way to make sure you have gotten rid of Blaster:

An easier way to read newsgroup messages:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/newsgroups/se tup.asp
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/

Thanks Jupiter,

I opened the VBScript and it said it removed the blaster.
What gets me is that as of two weeks ago I had every
update microsoft had to offer. I always run a firewall
when connected and i regularly scan for spyware and
viruses using AVG anti-virus, spybot, adaware, Back orfice
shield, Xen, I regularly check for open ports, My BIOS had
the lates updates from hp, I never open a downloaded file
or e-mail with out scanning it first...
The Norton AV-ware that came with my PC is toast and AVG
AV-ware is toast I just deleted the remnants of their
files. I'll probably download AVG again..I like the user
interface and its free for a while.
Which reminds me...veiwing that blaster remover script
file with notepad I noticed a reference to Norton
antivirus..registry key or something. I did a Norton scan
two days ago and nothing showed up. Blaster must exploit
or mimick Norton somehow.
