A BHO tries to install itself every time I start-up. I ask
MSAS to block it each time. Unfortunately MSAS does not
tell me what it is so I can attempt to delete it
permanently. I suspect it may be {549B5CA7, etc.} which I
think relates to google desktop search. Does anyone know
how I can find out which BHO is trying to install itself?

I've had one "thread" here which involved an infection with similar
symptoms--i.e. the infected item appeared to be related to the Google
toolbar.

I'd recommend uninstalling the Google toolbar if you have it installed,
restarting in Safe mode, scanning until the scan comes out clean (perhaps
twice?) then restarting normally and reinstalling the Google toolbar.

Look at the blocked events log. Open MSAS then click
tools\realt time protection\view blocked events. When you
click on an event the details are displayed in the right
panel. If logs get to big then clean out the log and start
fresh. You really need to click your way around in this
app to find out what is where and what does what. There
are no straight forward or obvious button to click, often
it's just text that you click. TTFN.
