what's up with the validation, i have to
download/install .exe and then paste something. what ever
happen to automatically detecting validation. do i have
to paste all the time in order to get the MSAS or other
free download?

your wrong, some user have to download a validation
program to get the code and have to paste the code to
validate. no information bar was shown on IE to instal
active x at all. thats the second solution. first
solution is if you receive a information bar to install
active x. just want to know why i didn't get information
bar on IE to install active x validation, my setting is
on default, i have genuine copy of window, using IE 6.0
sp2. anyone know why i have to copy paste a code each
time i want to download free microsoft product.

Microsoft if your listening please can you simply the
process on validating window xp. i don't like to copy and
paste code each time.

The precise process may depend on what browser you are using, your settings
in that browser, and perhaps what kind of XP install you have.

However, the validation process is a one-time process.

Try another download that requires validation--the same process will appear
to begin, but you will be taken directly to the download without going
through the full check.

the browser i'm using is IE 6.0 sp2 with default setting.
i have genuine xp. the validation process is not a one-
time process i believe it all change, it will expire and
you'll have to revalidate it again.

i tried the following solution that you've provide and it
didn't work. i have to validate it using the copy and
paste code methods which i think is stupidist method ever
created.

What's more stupid:

Having to put the product key in, if you can find it?

OR

The Genuine Advantage program, which doesn't need the
product keys?

The problem with the first one is that product keys can
be spoofed, making an illegal copy appear legal. Because
of this, MS is now using this method to validate the
product. It also means that they can spend less money
trying to combat software piracy and more money on
improving their products, and possibly lowering the cost
of some of their software products.

The problem that you might be having is that you
purchased a prebuilt system from a manufacturer who used
a copy of Windows that they also used for other computers.

The problem isn't with MS, but is in the way that
computer software is loaded by the manufacturer! They
use one CD to isntall on hundreds, if not thousands, of
systems.

These issues can be resolved by contacting MS support!

It IS a one-time process!

It installs an ActiveX control on your system.

When you try to download something from microsoft.com, it
checks the ActiveX control to see if you are running a
legit copy of Windows.

If you have to revalidate it again, you would have to
constantly download the ActiveX that is used by Genuine
Advantage. You DO NOT have to keep downloading that file!

If you update Windows XP from SP1 to SP2, you WILL have
to revalidate Windows, as the OS has changed since you
last used the tool.

In MSAS go to Tools > Advanced Tools > System Explorers
and select Downloaded ActiveX and you will see that you
have ONLY one copy of Microsoft Genuine Advantage
Validation Tool listed, not multiple ones!

When you try to download something from microsoft.com,
you must click on Continue. This causes the ActiveX to
launch and validate that the copy of Windows is legit.
It would be asinine for them to not check your system in
the future simply because your system had legit programs
in the past! Just because the software was legit before
DOES NOT mean it WILL be legit later. You could have
installed a bootleg copy of some MS product after you
first installed the ActiveX control.

how do you get the information to show up and install
active x, i tried everything from changing the IE 6.0
setting to default and the information bar does not show
up at all. i think installing active x is more convinient
than copying and pasting a code each time. probably your
right that people who have preinstalled xp and people who
bought the standalone software xp are completely
different. this site explain everything,
http://www.betanews.com/article/Microsoft_WGA_to_Require_R
evalidation/1116980459.

what does end user mean? people who have preinstalled
window xp.

Strange--I don't know what the difference is. It isn't preinstalled versus
retail--I've got both. This sounds like a bug.
