When I try to turn on MSAS real time protection using either pop-up menu
from the system tray icon or by
clicking on "Enabled Security Agents" in message centre of the opening
screen MSAS crashes.

In the first case the program disappears. In the second, a dialog is
dispalyed with:

Run Time Error '-2147417851 (80010105)'
Method of '~' of object'~' failed
<OK>

This is version 1.0.509 of MSAS under a fully patched version of XP Home.

Ideas?

Try this:
You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in Control
Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and then
click Update.

Andre:

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll give it a try the next time I can get at
the machine.
I'm doubtful that it will solve the problem as I've already tried a complete
remove/reinstall.

I looked around in the FAQ for known issues with other programs and found
none. Since
I'm running MSAS successfully on several other boxes I'm thinking it's
something about the
way this box is configured.
