Jeremy

Hello all,

Sorry to post this if this has already been discussed, but
since the search feature isn't working, and I really don't
want to wade through 112 pages.

I recently installed Antispyware, and ran the initial scan.
I let it run for over 12 hours (and I read the initial
scan should only be 2 minutes...) I do have an external
drive, but with that I only have 260 Gigs total and 180
used. I canceled that scan, closed everything, then
scanned again. 5 hours later it is still scanning.

In the Scan Progress field, it displays:

Scanning: Scanning start up registry programs

Total items detected: 1
Memory processes scanned: 35
Items detected: 0
Files scanned: 2
Items detected: 160
Registry keys scanned: 0
Items detected: 125800 (and rising continuously)

Detected Spyware on your system:
Unclassified.Spyware.65(125800 signitures (and rising))

So, MSAS has scanned 2 files and found 125k spyware files?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JP

Hi

MSAS have some problem with "overloaded" PC.s.... ;)

Download Lavasoft Adaware for redundant removals (to help MSAS).

http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/results.aspx?bCatId=327

Also before scanning remove your temporarily junk/crap with this tool.
(to go through all temporarily files takes a long time for MSAS)

www.ccleaner.com

It this doesnt help restart in safe mode and scan again with MSAS and
Adaware.
Choose fullscan within both.

Depending on the size of your hard disk and the scanning method used, it can
take a long time.

Thats fecked dude, reinstall it cause thats not right.

Anon, sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.
Reinstalled, now everything works well. Thank you!

To plun, Thanks, but I run those programs and more about
every week, so my machine is not "overloaded" with
malicious programs. I did clean out my temps with the
cleaner and ran MSAS in safe mode, but no it didn't work
correctly.

To Andre, You should know that scanning 200 Gigs will not
take over 24 hours. If someone programmed software to take
that long just to SCAN memory, they'd be shot.

It happens that (e-mail address removed) formulated :
