MSAS GUI freezes while connecting

Folks, is it just me on W2k?
When I do a manual update, the MSAS AutoUpdater dialog appears.
While it's trying to connect or downloading something, the GUI is totally
frozen. Just cover it with some window and uncover it. It's left blank
except for the plate drawing at the left.

It is intended to work this way? Maybe nobody does manual updating.

Hi Claudio;

Try these two solutions:

1) do an update install--control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft
Antispyware, change, updªte.

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in -> command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quºtes).
3) Close and re-open Windows Defender.

You can go ahead and do both of these--neither has any downside risk--and
see if that does the job. Let us know whether it does, or nºt!

If you are using dial-up, expect this procedure to take anywhere from 5 - 10
minutes to complete since the servers are based in the US, AND they are hit
fairly hard from about Tues - Fri (the usual days updates are released). The
last part also holds true for broadband connections, only the time delay is
about 10 - 30 seconds.

Thanks, Engel, but I didn't see any change after doing the two tips. Maybe
the Update dialog is not prepared to refresh its GUI until it has gotten all
new files and on a modest ADSL connection like mine it can take several
minutes when there's something to download.

When I did change->update from the Control Panel, the MSAS Installer
started, I clicked Next but nothing visible happened and it finished
normally.
