MSAS/DEP Software

Will MSAS have a DEP Software support so it can be
protected from certain types of virus. Plus my computer
processor does not support DEP and I was wondering if DEP
still protect me on some way or is it completely
useless.

This is more of an operating system feature than a feature of MSAS, you have
to have Service Pack 2 for Windows XP installed to take advantage of DEP.

Yes i got SP2 installed but my processor does not support
DEP, is DEP useless or does it protect me some way even
when i don't have the hardware processor with dep support?

This question should be posted to the appropriate group which is:
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Its possible that it is really a processor feature since most users in XP
x64 newsgroups are having issues with it blocing installations of certain
programs.

Sp2 uses a software version of DEP on processors which don't support it in
hardware.
Properties of My Computer, advanced tab, click settings under performance,
DEP tab.

Click "how does it work" for more information.

On few occasions my experience with DEP was, it crashed Explorer.exe because
made a wrong move which was not explained properly.
