MSAS and OneCare

I have decided today would be a good day to see if MS
Anti-SpyWare has allowed any unknown programs on my
system and found that it has the OneCare BETA listed as
an "Uknown" under the ActiveX list in Advanced
Tools>System Explorers. Did both developement teams not
mention about the two betas referring to each other as
Unknown software?

I'm quite sure that both those development teams are in communication with
each other, in some way.

I'm also reasonably sure that they won't show code relating to another beta
product as "known" until that product is out of beta--i.e. it has gone gold.
There's a great deal of effort involved in keeping up these databases, and
adding the individual frequently changing bits involved in ongoing betas to
them just adds to the issue. Additionally, once a product has gone gold, it
is useful to be able to spot whether any beta bits have been left
behind--we've had at least one such detection in these groups, I
believe--and it was helpful to the user.

So, you are saying I shouldn't worry about the "Unknown"
status until the BETA testing is finished and I purchase
the gold (retail) version? I didn't expect every BETA
would be reported as such. I'll ignore the status until I
obtain the retail(s).

Thank you for helping me have a clearer detail on the
MSAS product. By the way, will this beta go into RC2 by
next year or go directly to gold? I beleive there are
hardly any bugs now to worry about that I know of.

If you are clear on the source of the unknowns, I'd not worry about them, I
think I have 17, at the moment.

There will be a beta2, and this year. Whether that will have refreshes and
RC's I don't know--this is an unusual beta!
