i've been having trouble with MSAS quarantining music files so that they
can't be recorded to an audio CD. i had already burned a few of these songs
to cd's previously with no probs. but now it gives that "i" symbol and says
it can't be used as an audio file. how can i make the program stop doing
that or better yet ,reverse what it did? any advice???

I'm not indicating that I can help you with your problem; however, wouldn't
it be useful to indicate why WD is quarantining your music files?

if i could figure out how to open the file, maybe i would know why. when i
try and open the file i get the "what program would you like to use to open
it" response. then when i try and use the web ti FIND a program to open it,
it tells me can't. so i'm at a total loss. i don't even know why MSAS is
scanning my music files, since the site i use scans them before i can
download them. if a file is corrupted it won't let me continue. the thing
is is that WD has only quarantined a few of them and i have'nt had a problem
with any of these files before. this didn't become a problem until AFTER i
upgraded to Media Player latest version.

You provided a lot of information. The only problem is that I can't use any
of it.
What message is produced by Windows Defender when it quarantines a music file?

To clarify: I don't expect you to tell me what is wrong with the file. I
want to know what malware (and location) Windows Defender thought it found.

Hi Anniebecca

Have you tried re downloading the problematic music files with WD RTP turned
off - to establish if WD may be the culprit for your loss of file
association? As an added security measure, you can always do an `on demand`
AV or AS scan afterwards.
