The referenced Security Update for Windows XP Home was
installed automatically. Now I cannot connect to other
computers or printers on the peer-to-peer network nor can
other computers connect to me. The firewall was enabled
before this update and there was no problem.

At least 20 people posted this problem to this group today (including me).
I think yesterday's XP critical update turned off NetBIOS over TCP/IP. I
got my system back up and running by turning it on again - see
