Update #8

Allard is now talking about XNA and what it can do; basically what XNA
allows developers to do. They are showing the car crash demo on XNA
right now (which may have been shown at GDC already).

watch the vid. it's awesome. powered by ATI R420 / Radeon X800 again
probably.

you'll love, or hate what you see on the licence plate at the end 8)

The graphics in NFS: Underground with all video options maxed out match
those in the demo easily. The only thing missing from NFS are the bits and
pieces flying off the cars when they crash - and that's purely the physics
model.
I'm sure NFS:U 2 will have those as well.

-You must have different version than the rest of the world then, cause my
version sure as hell doesn't!

-I think you're missing the point. The point was that the demo was made in
very short time (1 person in 6 weeks..?), and still manages to look
beautiful. I just hope that we see this kind of carnage in PGR3... :)

Ooops, I just realised the original post was crossposted to three xbox
groups as well as the ATI videocard group which was my intended destination.
I've got NFSU running at 1280x1024 with 16 times Anisotropic filtering on a
Radeon 9800 and it sure looks good to me.
