MS Word is closing when I close the last remaining open document

We installed a new server recently, and I have this new problem. The MS Word
program is closing when I close the last remaining open document or sometimes
when I simply close a dialog box. It does not happen all of the time, but it
is driving me crazy. Any suggestioons?
 
If you want to prevent Word from closing when you close the last open
document, close by pressing Ctrl+F4 instead of clicking the X in the upper
right corner.
