new computer with windows xp---had put 3 word documents
of a floppy and now i can't open them in xp. any
suggestions???
 
You need to install a version of Microsoft Word in order to open
Word documents files.

Purchase and install Microsoft Word or Works Suite 2004.

Er...do you have Microsoft Word installed on the system? If so, are you
receiving any error messages? If so, what exactly are they?
 
Copy files from the floppy onto the HD in my documents.
Then under All Programs - look for Word.
If it's not there, then you'll have to purchase Word.

Please help us to help you. You need to supply much more
information. What does "i can't open them in xp" mean? What
happens when you try? If you get an error message, please post it
verbatim.

Do you have Microsoft Word, or some compatible program, installed
on your new computer?
