MS Visual C++ Runtime Error

I keep getting an error that looks like this

'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, Runtime Error,
C:\windows\explorer.exe'

It doesn't shut down my comp, but it does close a lot of
my programs and it's getting very annoying. Anyone know
how to fix this short of reinstalling XP?
