Reply to group, as return address is invalid that we may all benefit.

The three I got were:

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - March 2007 (KB890830)

Update for Windows XP (KB929338)

Update for Windows Media Format 11 SDK for Windows XP (KB929399)

Randy,

The poster can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm willing to bet he has no URLs
to cite.
My guess is that these 3 updates were offered to him, unrequested, by
Microsoft Update [Auto] or that he want ot MSUpdate and did an express scan.

Many people do not make a distinction between Critical, High-Priority,
Important, etc. The update "shield" or results of an "express" scan offer
you "What you need!", in their understanding of MS/WU does.

I saw the "shield" at work and checked it out. I was offered the same 3 [we
use Office 2003 at work and MS Update]. I am sure when I go to WUpdate after
posting this message and doing an "express" scan I will be offered 2 updates
that MS says "I need" [I don't use Office 2003 or MSUpdate].

The distinction between "critical" and "high-priority" and "important"
matters alot to IT professionals and geeks, not to the general user.

He misspoke, I think that's about it.

Actually I misspoke myself,

There seem to be 4 updates in play, Robin mentions a WMP11 SDK, what ever
that is.

Since I don't need the Office 2003 Outlook update [don't have it]
nor the WMP11 SDK [don't have it],
and I've already downloaded the MS MSRT to my flash drive at work [for my
Emergency Tool Kit :-) ] I think I will wait a day before I turn WU back on
after going to the WU site for the XP update till I found out what it is. As
you've pointed out, it's not critical :)

You are correct Tim - these were shown as "high priority updates on MS Update
under express scan.

I was only offered these two. I installed the XP update as a matter of
course because it said it addressed an instability issue, and because it can
be uninstalled, I believe (am I right?).
No problems arising, so far.
