MS Temp Files - How to delete

I have a number of temp files and would like to delete them ... how do i do
it? They look like ~WRL0005.temp and when i try to delet them i get an error
message that says "Cannot delete ~WRL0005: It is being used by another person
or program. CLose any progtrams that might be using the file and try again."
I can assure you all files are closed and no one else is using it (them).

Close Word. It will automatically delete all of the ~ temp files it knows
about from the current session. (If Word previously crashed, then there
probably are leftover ~ files it has lost track of). With Word closed,
"ownership" of any remaining ~ files is now divorced, and you should be able
to delete them.

Note that if you use Word as you email editor for Outlook then Word might
look closed, but not actually be closed. You might need to close Outlook to
be sure. Or, you can use the Task Manager (right-click a blank area in the
system's Task Bar and choose Task Manager - Processes tab, and see if
winword.exe is listed) to see if Word is still running.

That's quite common. If you're using Word as the email editor for
Outlook, then Word really is still running. Even if that's not the
case, something in the operating system can keep those files locked,
but I have no idea what it is. If you restart Windows, and then delete
the temp files before starting any Office program, it should succeed.

See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm for a batch
file and some other good suggestions for cleaning up.

OK I tried that ... and it did not work. I did not think it important at the
time i posted but the ms word temp file was created when word crashed after a
word document was created from an acrobat 7.0 file ... "save as ...
microsoft word *.doc ... ". The word doc was created but it was a "picture"
of the *.pdf file and as i tried to work with it Word crashed. The conversion
to Word created a very large Word file. I got one temp file to the recycle
bin then i made the mistake of trying to restore the file and did it again.
Now i have one in the recycle bin and one in my My Documents folder.
