My new computer with XP has problems downloading certain
kinds of internet pages:
1. on the microsoft update site
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
the "review and install updates" choice(s) do not work
for me even though it says that I qualify for 18 xp and 3
driver updates. If I open these choices in a new window,
the url says "about:blank" and there is no content.
The other choices, "welcome", "help & support", "about",
work ok. It's as if I can get only static pages, not
dynamic ones.
2. on the Ms support site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;
[ln];oasoem when I click "continue" the url says
http://support.microsoft.com/library/images/support/1ptrans
..gif but again, there is no content.
3. on the Yahoo page:
http://games.yahoo.com/games/downloads/sa.html windows 98
used to serve up a requested game called "addiction
solitaire" among others. XP gives me an empty screen.
I have so far disabled the Mcafee firewall, and set IE6 to
very loose blocking. Is this an XP problem or IE?
Thanks for your time.
