Hello guys... Just want to know if anyone has had experiences or problems configuring and installing MS FFB 1 (gameport interface not USB) in Windows XP??

And if It's possible to add a Gameport to USB converter to make the joystick compatible with my USB ports.

Thanks a lot

Joe...

Hi Alonso Cortez,

Although you can most likely get that game adapter to work with a
Gameport <> USB adapter, the force feedback won't work at all.

Purchasing a Gameport <> USB adapter is just throwing good
money away on a technology which although once great is now
outdated.. hense why computer manufacturers don't include game
ports anymore.

I have a PCI sound card with gameport in my computer and disabled the
obboard sound so I can use the gameport in the PCI card.

Will I still be able to play with the Feedback feture of the stick?
Also.. is there a way to enable the onboard sound and use it for speakers
and microphone and using the PCI sound card just for the gameport? will this
make any IRQ or resource conflicts?

because the sound onboard is way better than the PCI card.

Thanks
Joe..

Hi Alonso Cortez,

Although you can test the configurations you're suggesting both
with the dual sound and gameport for the joystick, the best bet
is to upgrade to USB technology which has replaced gameports
for several years now, and to keep your power and resource
drain lower by using only your onboard audio instead of the old
PCI card. The feeback has a 50/50 chance of working, try it.

OK I don't know why everyone keeps telling you to just upgrade to USB.
Personally I haven't because their aren't any joysticks out there I like. I
perfer my old MS Sidewinder and MS FF 1. I have 3 soundcards in my computer
and car run all three at the same time without any problems. Although I only
run 2 of them both PCI, one being a soundblaster 512 with a gameport and the
other being an Audigy 2. I use the 512 for gameport without problems and the
audigy for sound never had a problem. Let Me know if this helps you out.
