Camai (hello),

I was trying to follow a thread earlier but got a little lost in it.

I'm operating on Vista, which version of MS Picture It will most
likely run on it?

Quyana (thanks),

Becky

MS Picture It! evolved into MS Digital Image...

The latest and last version of MS Digital Image was...
"Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 Anniversary Edition"
(this program was optimized for Vista). The software
line is discontinued but copies can still be found at
online sites like Amazon and eBay.

There's a 60 day trial version available for
download if you would like to give it a try:

Microsoft Digital Image
Starter Edition 2006

or...
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ED-A15F-48C5-B724-7796FE8C151E&displaylang=en
(this product line has been
discontinued but you can still
download the Starter Version
and run it for 60 days)

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and it does
not include the clipart and pre-formatted
projects.

Will loyal users of Picture It Publishing (I have pip 2001) EVER again be
able to user this software on current OS's ?
There are still thousands of loyal picture-it users...and we have to keep a
pc with XP on it just to use this product! Sheesh!

Microsoft gave us all the shaft when they came out with VISTA. I have 0
problems with vista except for the fact that MS pip 2001 doesn't work on it.
So, will MS pip 2001 work with Windows 7? Probably not, I'd guess...since
windows 7 is just an 1-off vista.

Is ANYONE at Microsoft listening?
Does ANYONE at Microsoft care (...i know...silly question but I keep trying!).

Being that Microsoft doesn't give a hoot, I challenge all those computer
savvy wonderfully gifted, super genius computer gurus to find a way to make
pip 2001 work with vista/windows 7.
I KNOW there must be a way..I'm not in that [above] elite group. All other
items on the pip 2001 install disk work with Vista, so why doesn't pip
work????
PLEASE HELP MAKE Picture-It-Publishing work on VISTA.

If you question why I and others still like PIP - - it's because it's so
darn good of a software program. Microsoft abandoned it - - that in itself
is shameful. I read somewhere that someone gave microsoft the solution way
way back when vista was in beta but microsoft IGNORED it.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. I'm still keeping a pc with XP *sigh*.

I'm still hopeful that someone will come through for all of us.

When and if you update to Windows 7 you will have
the option to install 'Windows XP Mode'...this should
allow you to run PI 2001. Have a look at the following
links:

Windows 7 - Windows Virtual PC / Download Windows XP Mode

Microsoft® Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...7f-8538-4619-8d1c-05d27e11adb2&displaylang=en

And...if you happen to have an unactivated copy of
Windows XP...you can install it and run it in a
Virtual Machine on a Vista System...this will allow
you to run Picture It! programs on XP just like the
good old days but on your Vista system.

Thanks, John I..good info. I read your link to the windows7 article talking
about the ability to download 'xp mode' on windows7. That's sounds great but
I'm skeptical. Has anyone out there tried this yet [load xp mode on windows
7 and install picture it publishing 2001] ?

Regarding installing win xp in a virtual machine on vista: I read in one of
the numerous threads about pip that it'll install and run, but there's issues
with copying files (someone said they couldn't save files ..and thus they
couldn't take files to get them printed...bummer!).

Sounds like the xp mode downloaded to windows 7 would be cleaner. Hopefully
we can find out if it really runs pip 2001! There's also a lot of pip 2002
loyal users, too. This could help a lot of people. I don't like paying for
the upgrade to windows 7 JUST to use pip2001, but I'd consider it.

Thanks again.

I do know that 2001 will run in a Virtual Machine on
a Vista machine because I've done it on my system
before. Anything is possible but I did not experience
the copying, saving, printing issues you mentioned.

If you have an unactivated copy of XP...why not
give it a try?

There was a message posted in the pictureit
newsgroup that said XP Mode worked for PI2002
so I feel reasonably certain that 2001 will work also.

Here's a link to the message:
