Howdy! Howdy!

I posted this question the day that the Application NG
went down ( or the day before ) so I have yet to see if
there is a response.

Anyway, have a WIN2000 SP3 member server running Terminal
Services. Have installed MS Office 2000 SP3 using the
TERMSRVR.MST file.

There was a problem with a file association for .jpg (
namely, there was none ) so I was able to associate .jpg
and .jpeg with Internet Explorer. However, I would really
like to use MS Photo Editor. That is not available. I
can only imagine that the TERMSRVR.MST file prevented MS
Photo Editor from being installed?

Is it safe to assume that I can indeed install MS Photo
Editor after the fact? or will it cause a problem?

The TS is a Dell Power Edge 2650 with dual Xeon 2.40GHz
and 2GB of RAM. There are roughly 16 users making a
Citrix connection so resources *should* not be an issue.
BTW - there are five in one remote office ( connected via
a Firewall-to-Firewall VPN ), six in another office ( same
type of connection ) and five in yet another ( same set
up ).

Thanks all!

Cary

The photo editor is located on the Office Cd-rom. Just
copy it to your hard drive and you should be just fine.

And yes, the termserv.mst file doesn't copy it over.

.
Thank you, Matthew!

That is what I thought but wanted to be sure. Still
learning the ropes on TS so I am going to be extra careful
with even the slightest of changes.

hi
we're finding that PhotoED works fine as admin, but not
as a normal user
also MSpaint is giving us a few headaches as well.
i have seen articles on the web saying that these apps do
not run (well/at all) on TS :(
cheers

What kind of headaches (ie. do you get any error messages? what
happens when a normal user tries to run these programs)?

If you suspect that you have a permission problem, download FileMon
and RegMon from http://www.sysinternals.com/. Run them as
administrator, start a TS session as a normal user and try to run the
application.

FileMon and RegMon will show you all "access denied" errors
that occur, so that you can give your users the necessary
permissions on a file-to file or Registry subkey basis.
