When new user logs on to a Win2k machine, and tries to
open a .jpg file, an error pops up saying "No file format
information can be found in the Registry" so they
click "OK". Then MS Photo Editor opens with another error
message saying "Unknown file format". So they click "OK".
If they go to "File-->Open" the only file type option is
All Files.
Unless the user is a Power User they are unable to change
the file association.
If I make them a Power User, the problem goes away. We do
not want everyone to be a Power User just so they can
view .jpg files.
Any suggestions?
