Ever since upgrading to a new PC, I have had problems with the performance of
MS Outlook (Windows XP). If I am transferring an email from my Inbox to
personal folders, it can take anything up to 30 seconds or more. Similarly,
if I send myself an email from my work PC, it invariably takes hours to
arrive where previously it took seconds. I am also running McAfee which I
disablked but to no effect. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

When you send yourself an email from work do you ever use the web
interface for your personal email and check to see if it is there right
away? If it is, then your system may have a problem, if it isn't, then
your ISP (or your work ISP) may be having problems.

As for moving emails around: that may indicate an Outlook or XP problem
as you surmise.

Well, for instance, if you use 'gmail', Google has an interface where
you can get your emails directly using your Internet Explorer (Firefox,
etc). You put in your email address and password and are taken to your
incoming email page. Go to the Google Search page and click the 'Gmail'
link at the top.

Other ISP's have their own interfaces. I have mine at SBCGlobal, which
is actually 'mail.yahoo.com' and use my email address and password.

The web interfaces make it nice if you are traveling without your laptop
and need to check your email.
