MS Outlook slow performance

I recently upgraded PCs (to a 2.4Ghz P4, 512 MB Ram) and
loaded my saved pst file to use with Outlook 2002. Now,
switching between email messages (even tiny ones) is very
slow. It takes several seconds to display an email
message after it has been selected. Calendar seems to be
fine.

Has anyone experienced this and is there a solution?
 
Try disabling the integration with Instant Messenger in Tools | Options |
Other and see if that speeds things up.
