We have a server based software on a Dell PowerEdge SC1420.
We need advice on STOPPING this barrage of SPAM every day.(avg. 700-1K daily)

I have been told that we can correct this via particular settings within the
software, instead of buying an expensive SPAMKILLER(i.e.) software.

Will MS assist me on this tweeking on their toll free line, or is there
anyone out there that can assist me?

Thanks so much!

When you say "I have been told that we can correct this via particular
settings within the software", what software are you referring to, Outlook
2003 or the "server based software on a Dell PowerEdge SC1420"? The way
your post is written suggests that the setting in question is located in
this "server based software on a Dell PowerEdge SC1420"; we would need to
know what that software is and does.

How have yo configured Outlook's Junk E-mail settings? Have you looked at
any of the fairly good _freeware_ antispam products?

If you are running Exchange 2003 or later on that Dell server, then you
already have a server based junk e-mail filter.
However, it would still mean that the server will need to download, process
and ultimately drop the emails to filter them out.
Your ISP probably offers MX based filtering as well so that the email
already gets filtered and your server will never need to download it to
begin with. This filtering is usually offered for a relatively small
additional price for your hosting solution. Ask them about it.

It would be unwise to go for a client based solution in this case.
