Hello all,

The subject explains the problem quite well but here is some more info.

If I try to enter a new contact the moment I type a non ; character outlook
tries to do something and gives me a crash. The same thing happen if I try to
modify a contact or try to type in the mail address on a new mail.
The only solution so far is to use word as an email editor there the crash
does not happen.
I tried quite a few remedies but none seem to work, I closed all personal
folders, I deleted all address books and removed the search order from
options in address book. I even uninstalled and reinstalled.

I have only one mail account with POP access to my ISP, I have the default
Personal folder plus another one where I have a contacts folder.

Can anything be done, I do not want to stop using outlook or do a format
and reinstall of everything.

Regards
Dimitris

Have you tried repairing your Outlook data file with the Inbox Repair Tool?
Do you remember what steps produced this problem?

Hello,

I just repaired both the default oulook.pst file and my own mailbox.pst
file, they both had problems as reported by the tool. After the repair I run
the scan again and no problems reported.

The problematic behaviour still plagues me though, every single attempt to
type an email field results in a crash.

I am not sure what caused the problem and the disk drive has no problems as
I run chkdsk /r many times, the memory of the PC reports no problems either
as I run memtest many times.

I have no other issues with the normal set of software application I use and
those are quite a handful.

In anticipation for a possible solution and a Thank you for helping.

Hello all,

Provide more detail on where you are typing the email address and what error
messages and Event viewer entries you get.

Hello all,

Hello,

This is the event viewer entry

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.6353.0, stamp 408f2937,
faulting module outllib.dll, version 11.0.6359.0, stamp 40c8adfd, debug? 0,
fault address 0x002bde54.

I think that the place that I try to enter the mail address is not so
important as it happens both in a contact data entry screen on the 'E
mail...' field or just the To,From,CC,BCC fields of a new mail message. As I
wrote before only word as an e-mail editor does not crash, probably because
it is not doing the same check or the event code that Outlook executes on the
previous cases is not hooked there.
Anyhow as I told you uninstalling did not help, maybe some registry hive is
damaged or something of the sort.

I can send you the CVR file ( the crash info file ) if you wish.

Hello,

I cannot download the patch correct?
I will have to ask and pay for it?

Anyhow it seems that it resolves another issue alltogether, I am willing to
try it though if I can download it for free.
I am just so close to reinstalling windows that I will try anything.

Thanks.

Hello,

I should have mentioned sorry.

The installation I have is a slipstreamed Office 2003 Pro + SP1.
I tried a 'clean' install, as clean as uninstalling/rebooting/installing can
be, and then connected to office update and obtained all available patches.

Any more help is Godsend.

Hello,

Tried everything that was applicable but the crash is insisting.
Can anybody tell us exactly what Outlook is doing when a user types in the
email edit box?
It would be really helpful to know the internals behind this nightmare of a
problem.

I doubt it. There are numerous causes for crashes in outllib.dll, but I know
of no others than are listed in the KB. You have no clue what steps produced
this problem?
Did you create a new profile from scratch?
Why did you have 2 PST files to repair and did you repair them completely?
