You are not going to believe this but it just happened to me.

I have been using the same XP disc on one PC for 5 years OK

So today I added 1Gig of ram that’s all just 1Gig

Re-booted and wait for it > MS notice> Due to significant changes to your hardware please reactivate your MS product Ummm is that a significant change me thinks not. Oh what pain in the arse they are. Phoned them and gave the number on screen> he gave me the new code. Talk about thick he gave me six sets of numbers I said I need seven sets of numbers to activate, I have given you seven, nope you ain`t, >he said I will give them to you again so yep you guessed it SIX sets again,

after half an hour he then admitted he was wrong [surprise, surprise] its ok I said you are paying for the phone call with that another person interrupted and apologised for the mess up. It must have been his superior :eek: Thank heavens MS dont make anything that sucks because it wont work

That is a really strange one..I have dealing with Microsoft nearly every day with work etc, but that is the first I have ever heard of that...Erm MS Techs/customer support can be a bit dim at times..:p

Exactly still trying to work it out, as I have changed a MOBO/CPU on many a PC and never had to re-activate:confused: :wall: The thing is I have the XP disc without SP 1/2/ or 3 on it thats how old it is:lol: Yes I have to laugh its better than being MAD. Oh I am MAD I have the certificate to prove it:p
