MS Intellipoint Mouse driver problem

I am trying to roll back my Intellipoint driver from 5.0
to 4.1. When I use the roll back in device manager, it
tells me no drivers were backed up. If I uninstall the
drivers it uninstalls the entire mouse device. I have the
CD that came with the mouse but I can't install the old
drivers from it because it tells me that those drivers
are older than the current drivers and cannot continue.
Any ideas?
 
In Safe Mode, try:

1) Uninstall all Intellipoint software
2) Delete all mouse devices
3) Reboot and re-start Safe Mode
4) Install Intellipoint 4.12 (found on Microsoft's web site -- Under Windows
NT downloads).
