MS Fax doesn't see Outlook 2003 contacts

I imported all of my contacts directly from Access 2003. I see them fine
when using Outlook. However when using MS Fax I click on the Address Book
link and it doesn't see any of my imported contacts. It does see all of my
contacts that were inputted manually.
I can't figure out why or if I did something wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.
I am using Windows XP Home

A couple of things you need to check. First, clarify which fax program you
are using. State what program you have set as your default program for
managing Contacts for your operating system. Finally, importing Contacts
often fails to resolve the electronic addresses. If your fax numbers are not
resolved, they will not appear in the address book until you resolve them
(usually requires opening and Saving each Contact Record).

Thanks for responding.
I state in the title that I am using MS or Microsoft Fax.
Not sure what you mean by "State what program you have set as your default
program for managing Contacts for your operating system". I use Outlook 2003.
I tried opening up a record and resaving it, but that did not resolve my
issue.

You are not using Microsoft Fax. It has not been in use since Windows 95.
Existing fax programs include Windows 2000 Personal Fax, Windows XP Fax, and
Vista Fax and Scan.
To examine your default Contact manager look at Control Panel > Internet
Options > Programs... (depending on your operating system, which you have
not mentioned).
When you create a new Contact with a valid fax address, will it appear in
your address book? If so, then you have found your problem.

Okay, I didn't realize it changed names. I am using Windows XP Fax as my OS

Now what?
Thanks

If you create a new Contact from scratch, will it appear in in the Outlook

When I go into one of the records that XP Fax doesn't see, I modify it and
then re-save it. Now XP Fax sees it. I have over 5,000 records so this
would be very time consuming. Do you think I imported incorrectly or is this
just a bug in the software?
Thanks

Mail merges have always been able to use other data sources such as Access
databases or Excel spreadsheets. You just specify them at the appropriate
step in the merge setup.

Nevermind. I just realized you aren't using a fax merge, just the address
book. You're a victim of Outlook's inability to do an import correctly.
There is an outside chance that repairing your PST file and resetting your
address book service (remove it and re-add it from the profile) might set
things straight.

After furious head scratching, rlastar asked:

| How else can I send a fax to a customer created in Access?

|| ||| I'm not really sure what you mean, but I have been trying to figure
||| it out.
||| When I go into one of the records that XP Fax doesn't see, I modify
||| it and then re-save it. Now XP Fax sees it. I have over 5,000
||| records so this would be very time consuming. Do you think I
||| imported incorrectly or is this
||| just a bug in the software?
||| Thanks

|||| Answer my other question, please.
|||| If you create a new Contact from scratch, will it appear in in the
|||| Outlook
|||| Address Book. I still suspect you have unresolved addresses.

|||| ||||| Okay, I didn't realize it changed names. I am using Windows XP
||||| Fax as my
||||| OS
||||| is XP Home.
||||| My default Contact manager is Microsoft Office Outlook.
||||| All of the imported contacts have the valid fax number showing in
||||| their records.
||||| Now what?
||||| Thanks

|||||| You are not using Microsoft Fax. It has not been in use since
|||||| Windows
|||||| 95.
|||||| Existing fax programs include Windows 2000 Personal Fax, Windows
|||||| XP Fax,
|||||| and
|||||| Vista Fax and Scan.
|||||| To examine your default Contact manager look at Control Panel >
|||||| Internet
|||||| Options > Programs... (depending on your operating system, which
|||||| you have
|||||| not mentioned).
|||||| When you create a new Contact with a valid fax address, will it
|||||| appear in
|||||| your address book? If so, then you have found your problem.

|||||| ||||||| Thanks for responding.
||||||| I state in the title that I am using MS or Microsoft Fax.
||||||| Not sure what you mean by "State what program you have set as
||||||| your default
||||||| program for managing Contacts for your operating system". I use
||||||| Outlook
||||||| 2003.
||||||| I tried opening up a record and resaving it, but that did not
||||||| resolve
||||||| my
||||||| issue.

|||||||| A couple of things you need to check. First, clarify which fax
|||||||| program
|||||||| you
|||||||| are using. State what program you have set as your default
|||||||| program for
|||||||| managing Contacts for your operating system. Finally, importing
|||||||| Contacts
|||||||| often fails to resolve the electronic addresses. If your fax
|||||||| numbers
|||||||| are
|||||||| not
|||||||| resolved, they will not appear in the address book until you
|||||||| resolve
|||||||| them
|||||||| (usually requires opening and Saving each Contact Record).

|||||||| ||||||||| I imported all of my contacts directly from Access 2003. I
||||||||| see them
||||||||| fine
||||||||| when using Outlook. However when using MS Fax I click on the
||||||||| Address
||||||||| Book
||||||||| link and it doesn't see any of my imported contacts. It does
||||||||| see all
||||||||| of
||||||||| my
||||||||| contacts that were inputted manually.
||||||||| I can't figure out why or if I did something wrong.
||||||||| Any help would be appreciated.
||||||||| I am using Windows XP Home
