If you look at the above kb it states:

Step 1: Uninstall Alternative User Input
Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP:
4- In the Currently installed programs list, click to select Microsoft
Office XP product, where Office XP product is the name of the specific
Office product being used. If you are using a standalone version of one of
the Office programs, click to select the appropriate product in the list.
Click Change.

I just reinstalled XP PRo sp3(formated HD) and I have not installed any MS
Office products yet, so why is ctfmon showing up in my msconfig startup? And
how am I supposed to disable it, since the above KB only refers to doing
that in MS Office.

Hi John,

Yes I have IE7 installed. I checkd my IE7 and I only one language configed
which is ENGLISH.

Do I need ctfmon for IE7 ? Can I turn cftmon off? If yes how?
As per the KB(at least for ms office & ctfmon), I went to add/remove
programs and looked at IE7, but there was not a CHANGE button, only a REMOVE
button.
