I am very new to Exchange. I need to have my Exchange server forward a copy
of a message to an email address when the subject or body contains a known
unique identifier. Where do I start? How can I make Exchange evaluate a rule
to do this? Do I need a SDK ? Is this functionality already apart of Exchange
2003? Any help or direction is very much appreciated.

Hi Doug,
My understanding of your issue is that:
You wanted to have your Exchange Server forward a copy of a message to an
email address when the subject or body contains a known unique identifier.
You wanted to know how to configure your Exchange Server to do this or
whether or not you should use SDK.
If I have misunderstood, please let me know.

Sincerely hope your understanding that I am not an exchange expert and can
just provide some general information on this issue. It is recommended that
you have a new post at microsoft.public.exchange.admin or
microsoft.public.exchange.development for wider audience and best support.

Not sure if Exchange Server 2003 has this function, but if you want to
proceed programmatically, you can use Exchange Server 2003 SDK.
You can download the Exchange SDK and Windows Platform SDK (required for
Exchange SDK) via the following links:
Exchange Server 2003 SDK Documentation and Samples July 2006

Platform SDK
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/browse.aspx?displaylang=en&productID=6F6B

You can refer to the sample "Forwarding and Replying to Messages" in the
SDK.
Here is the article genarally talking about the sample:

Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or
concerns.
