MS-DOS Mode

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to restart or start
your computer in a "pure" DOS mode??? I'm trying to flash
my bios. Or is there an easier way??? PLEASE HELP. thanx

There is no "pure" MS-DOS mode in Windows XP. The NT-based operating systems
are not built on DOS.

You do not require DOS mode to flash your BIOS. What you need is a BIOS
update diskette, which comes from your OEM or motherboard manufacturer.

Actually, you do require DOS to flash your BIOS (although some motherboards
have the flasher program contained within the BIOS setup program, and some
motherboards will allow you to flash your BIOS from within Windows.)

You usually need a "plain vanilla" DOS floppy, which contains the flasher
program and the BIOS image file and no other file (except for the DOS boot
files, io.sys, msdos.sys, and command.com).
