Egad! I haven't seen that error message in donkey's years. What
version of Access and what version of Windows op system? Are you
opening many DOS windows (aka Command windows)? Are you using a lot of
Open # commands?

My guess is that the db is in need of a Compact & Repair (Acc2000 &
greater. Just Compact in Acc97.):

Acc2000 & greater:
Main menu: Tools > Database Utilities > Compact and Repair Database...

If that doesn't work:

My understanding of Access queries is that they sometimes create
temporary tables/files in the temp folder. IOW, they are writing data
to the disk. Perhaps, your disk is getting close to full. If so, you
can delete any unused files from the temp folder (be careful on what you
consider unused); or, defrag your disk, which will gather all small
unusable disk sectors into one large usable section.

It is also possible that you have many programs working that are writing
to the disk; therefore, close some of those other programs while you are
running the Access application.
