When you type a command on the command line, (open that with
Start/Run [type] CMD) you must use very precise structure.
To see the command format type the command followed by a
space and then /? to see the options when entering that
command.. If you just type CD /? you will see the change
directory command info.
Spaces are important with the command line for it to work as
are slashes and the commands themselves.

| >I simply CANNOT get my MS DOS command to work. When I
bring it up, it shows C;\Documents and Settings|Sony. I have
read and reread the instructions on changing drives, files,
etc., NOTHING works. It's like it's frozen on that and will
not change. I'm not computer illiterate by any means, but
this has me stumped. I am using Windows XP home edition,
which came on my Sony VAIO PCV-RX681.

| First, realize that you can't get to MSDOS in XP because
MSDOS does
| not exist in XP in any way, shape,or form. There is a
command line
| interface that looks like a DOS box, and will run many,
but not all,
| DOS programs/commands, but IT IS NOT DOS.
|
| That said, take this question to another forum. This has
NOTHING to
| do with hardware.
