If I label and tag with MS Digital Image 2006, will I be able to see those
tags in XP and other programs? Will this program edit the IPTC information?

Thanks!

Happy New Year!

You should know that thumbs and some
metadata is stored in the Library's database.
This info would only be accessible from
the library.

2006 Version:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\
Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\
POD\Pictures.pd3

Here's a copy of some info direct from the
PIX Team:

=====
=====

We read Keyword, Author, and Title information
from IPTC, but we do not write back to IPTC.
We only write back to EXIF for JPEG and TIFF.
We write to XML for PNG+. In any other cases
where we can't write to these, we write to the
NTFS stream if it is available. We do not write
anything back to read-only files.

The EXIF data is written to EXIF fields that
Windows creates for writeback purposes.
These fields are created because the EXIF
standard does not support Unicode. The
only EXIF standard field we write back to
is Date Taken.

Windows already recognizes the metadata
that Digital Image Library writes to files, and
will continue to support that. Metadata is a
very important issue to the operating system,
and we are working to provide users with a
clear, consistent experience in that space.
