MS Defender Beta 2 won't install

I keep getting the message that some Defender files are in use and I have to
close them before the install will finish. I exited out of the Defender icon
on the lower tool bar. Any suggestions? Thanks.
 
Try opening the application, and going to tools, options, and scroll all the
way to the bottom and uncheck "Use windows defender....."
