I recently purchased the MS bluetooth & Mouse and have
just been told by Sony Ericsson support that my bluetooth
phone cannot work with this hardware. Aparantly, the
bluetooth receiver supplied with the hardware only
recognises the MS keyboard and mouse!!!!

I am really pissed off as I purchaed this (rather than a
competitior's inf-red verson) specifically to communicate
with my phone also.

Is this correct? Have I been stooged by MS ?????????

One would only assume that the Microsoft Bluetooth transceiver
would only be capable of transmitting and receiving signals
from the Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse.

What lead you to believe it would also communicate with your
Sony Ericsson phone?

Hi Dean

For a fairly comprehensive look at the Microsoft Bluetooth desktop have a
look at the guide on the Tom's Hardware website

http://www17.tomshardware.com/consumer/20030328/index.html

In their tests they were able to successfully connect to a Sony Ericsson
T68i mobile phone. So the Sony support was wrong.

Check you have the latest updates from MS. I think there was an update for
Bluetooth with SP1 (not completely sure on this but I seem to remember a
reference to an MS update in an article I read prior to buying).

hope that helps
Pete

Ignoring all the snide comments on these blue tooth
threads, sadly you are correct. MS's BT implementation at
this time is very limited and does not/not intended to
support other devices outside the K/M even though the box
marketing clearly indicates you can use it as a general BT
gateway. Sorry bro, I just returned mine to my great
disappointment I so wanted it to work well.
