I have been using the Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard and
mouse combination for about a year. I originally
installed it on my machine when it was running Windows XP
Home Edition.
I recently upgraded to XP Pro; after the upgrade, I lost
Bluetooth functionality. I troubleshot the problem (I
needed to reinstall the SP for Bluetooth support from my
hard drive), and my keyboard started working again.
Recently, I decided to test out the Logitech Bluetooth
desktop combination, mainly because Microsoft's Bluetooth
implementation made it impossible for me to connect my
PDA wirelessly via Bluetooth. Logitech suggests
completely removing MS BT before starting the install--
including removing the SP. I did all that (I uninstalled
both pieces of hardware, then the transceiver, through
Device Manager, then removed the three software items (I-
Type, I-Point, and the SP)).
Logitech's install routine checks for existing BT Stacks,
and will halt the install of the Logitech BT stack (which
adds hub functionality--KB and mouse will still work
without the stack) if another stack is detected.
Unfortunately, going through the uninstall process I
described above (and recommended by Logitech) did not
remove the BT stack, and my Logitech install halted.
With that backdrop, I ask my question: Does anybody know
how to completely remove the Microsoft Bluetooth stack
from Windows XP? I apparently need the entire footprint
gone--drivers, registry entries, device manager, etc.
Thanks.
