Hello All

I hope this is an appropriate newsgroup for my question:
if not, please let me know which one to use.

I want to use MS Backup to backup some files on my W2k PC
to a W98 PC (networked), and am having 2 problems:

1. MS Backup on the W2k PC includes a scheduling tool, but
no matter what schedule I create the backup job doesn't
initiate itself at the expected (or any other) time. Even
if I use the Scheduled Tasks option (under
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scheduled tasks),
nothing happens at the prescribed time. Why not?

2. If I run the backup manually, it appears to work OK and
I end up with a file called C:\WKHC database\lesbak.bkf on
the remote W98 PC. But if I try to resore this file (on
the same remote W98 PC), when MS Backup asks for the name
of the file to restore from it looks for files of type QIC
Backup files (*.qic) - whereas my backup file is a .bkf
file. Needles to say the restore then fails ("The media
contains an unknown data format and cannot be logged").
So, if my W2k PC blows up, what do I do with my backup
files at C:\WKHC database\lesbak.bkf ?

I would be very grateful indeed for any help.

Many thanks
Les.

1) Not sure; what credentials is the task meant to run under? Can you
schedule something else, something simple? Perhaps your backup requires
interaction.
2) Windows 98 and Windows 2k use different backup formats...if you need to
get files to the 9x machine, use another method.
