I'm trying to use a scheduled backup to backup data to
remote storage. I get the following message:

"backupTest.job" (NTBACKUP.EXE)
Started 9/5/2003 11:45:01 AM
"backupTest.job" (NTBACKUP.EXE)
Finished 9/5/2003 11:45:02 AM Result: The task completed
with an exit code of (0).

The messages shows that the backup worked, however the
file does not exist. If I run the same backup to a local
drive, the file shows up fine. I've tried the backup to 2
different networked drives and both attempts failed. If I
backup to the local drive and then FTP the file to the
remote storage unit, it will work fine.

Would MS Backup require some type of remote agent to work
properly?

Thanks - Shawn

Run ntbackup. Go to the tools menu and select Report. Read the most recent
report to try to find out what went wrong.

If you're using a mapped drive, try using UNC syntax and not a drive letter.
The drive letter mapping may not exist when you're logged off.

I have been researching this problem myself. I read
somewhere that it won't work if you are replacing an
existing file on a remote location. And that you have to
edit the script to delete the original file first. Let me
know if you find anything more about this.
