MS AntiSpyware Usefulness

Has anyone else determined that MS's Antispyware is a useless piece of crap?
It catches about 1% of what everyone else catches. Several critical files
were detected by TrendMicro from their free scanner on the Internet. So far
my Ad-Aware is 100 times better. It has deleted hundred's of items in the
past 4 months. MS has detected 4 items in that time period. My thinking is to
uninstall this looser, but I wanted to hear feedback on other's. Am I missing
something?

Exactly what was missed by MSAS? You did not say.
The current build does not detect cookies and that is usually what people
consider being missed.
Cookies are harmless by themselves and easily controlled from within
Internet Explorer.
Perhaps Beta 2 will detect cookies.

For anything else, did you submit them so Microsoft is made aware?

I worked on a machine with an "a better internet" variation--something that
included bolger.dll--not sure just what there was--on it. Microsoft
Antispyware saw nothing, but there were popups galore.

I ended up using Ewido to remove it.

Does this mean that Microsoft Antispyware is crap? Not at all. The current
scanner is reaching some limits, but we will soon see a revised scanner in
beta2. I'm reserving judgement until we reach a point where folks can
compare the beta2 product to the competition.

Remember folks, this is BETA. Things usually get better as the software gets
older. Also, Windows was made by Microsoft. They know their own software
best. Something tells me to trust them for now.

I also use ad aware. I downloaded microsoft to see if MAYBE their program was
better... no such luck... The lavasoft program is FAR SUPUERIOR!

In the time I have had the MS anti spyware program, it has caught or
recgognized exactly ZERO events. The AdAware catches and or recognizes 20 -30
per day.

I don't think I am gulable enough to wait on Beta 2

Mike;
You have not stated what was missed.
If cookies, see other post.
If something else, post details so Microsoft can resolve it.
As of now there is nothing to go on with what you have said.

I'm having a problem with MSAS actually removing spyware which it
identifies. I get two Aurora items identified, and one
"trojan.startup.nameshifter.BK. All are marked for deletion, yet on reboot I
can run the program again and they are again identified. Can't fault MSAS
particularly, I have e-Trust Pest Patrol with the same results (and it
apparently doesn't catch the Trojan). I've gone through regedit to try and
eliminate these pests multiple times to no avail. Also, Nail.exe is removed,
but the initiation in the registry comes back again and again (msg that the
file wasn't found on boot). The Aurora might be coming from "sponsored"
Eudora (knew I shouldn't switch from text only e-Mail!), but I haven't a clue
where the Trojan came from (and obviously, how to get rid of it).
