Has anyone heard any rumors about when MS may eventually
provide a production RELEASED version of their
AntiSpyware app? I was previously runnin the Beta
version on a PC that died last weekend. I've purchased a
new PC, but was thinking that if the AntiSpyware app was
due to be RELEASED sometime this year, I would prefer to
just wait for that RELEASED version rather than install a
Beta product.

TIA for any info.

This is a beta so anything can go wrong with it, since
many computer has different cofigurations. there's risk
involve when installing beta you'll either have no issue
just minor bugs or have a major issue where you have to
reinstall your os. although i never had any major issue
with MSAS beta 1.

The only non-rumor information we can post is that beta2
will be released "this year."

I haven't heard anything about a final release date. I did have an exchange
with the VP responsible for MS AntiSpyware about support for it in
production and he said (paraphrasing of course) that since millions of
computers are running it in production already they are supporting it for
production use. Keep in mind that Beta 1 is the released version of Giant
AntiSpyware with Microsoft's name slapped on it. So the risk level with
using it in production is very low.
