David

I just downloaded and installed MS Antispyware beta from
the MS site. Whenever I try to run it, I get the
critical error: Error 101 and it stops. This computer is
running Windows XP Home, SP2, updated a few days ago; I
did the authenticity verification before downloading.
What should I do next?

Thanks

David

David,

Can you try the following steps and reply back if it takes care of the
problem?

Verify you are logged on as an admin
Open up control panel and double-click on add/remove programs.
Select Microsoft AntiSpyware
Select "Change"
On the Microsoft AntiSpyware Maintenance Wizard, click next.
On the next screen (Microsoft AntiSpyware Maintenance Wizard) select Update
Microsoft AntiSpyware and click next.
Select Install
Let the product update.
Click Finish.

Thanks!

-steve

Steve,
I tried that several times; it does NOT help. This seems
to be a very common problem. Is there ANY possibility it
might be due to (gasp) a problem in the actual software??
Thanks
David
