High, hope this is the right place. Have had no problems
until now. I got a message to update to new definitions
because I have program set to notify instead of download
on its own. I said no. Came back after finishing what I
was doing and pulled up program to check for updates. No
problem so far. Checked for updates. Took longer than
usual to connect but said it was updating from 5711 to
5713 definitions. Then installed them. Software said up
to date. Ran a scan fine. Came back to program a little
latter just to see if updater would say up to date if I
tried again. To my surprise it said needed to update
from 5711 to 5713, again. Weird. I let it go. Said
updated. Did restart. Pulled up program again. For
kicks tried to update again. Should have said "up to
date" but said it had to update from 5711 to 5713. Said
updated again. Shut down program. Waited a while,
couple hours. Did a restart. Tried again and for the
fourth time said it still needed to update 5711 to 5713.
Let it run through a fourt time. Closed program and then
reopened, program took 1 minute to load. First time it
ever did that. Closed, tried again, and again splash
screen came up right away but 1 minuter or more for
program to come up. used to take no more than 5
seconds. Now am concerned program is corrupt. Should I
uninstall and reinstall? If so, through add/remove or
uninstaller that came with program? Will this work its
way out on its own?
Also, noticed that when I originally had program there
was always two gcas... type files running in processes
under my name for this program, now there is only one it
is gcasDtserv.exe. The other one started out with gcas
but I cannot remember the rest. It seems to have
disappeared. Is this the problem? Any Help would be
greatly appreciated.
OS: Windows XP w/sp2 installed and updated
1 gigabite of Ram
250 gibabite Hard drive
Linksys Router w/Hardware Firewall
Cable Modem & Connection
Cable - Wide Open West
Mcafee: Viruscan - upgraded today before above happened
Firewall Plus
Privacy Service - Popup, Webbug, Add Blocker
Run Adaware SE Personal - Fully Updated
