MS antispy doesn't find anything, !

I've installed this without problems. Diagnostics on
the "about" pull down under "help" show nothing unusual.
It all seems to be working. But it isn't catching
anything during scans (deep scanning option selected).
Ad-Aware, which I've been using for a long time,
identifies 5-10 items per day. So apparently the MS real
time protection isn't working. The event logs show zero
events - i.e., MS isn't finding anything. Is this
working for anyone? I have Norton internet security...
could this be fouling MS anti-spy? For the record, the
machine details are: XP-pro SP2, 1.86 GHz 533 FSB 1 GB
memory centrino Pentium M on a Compaq

This present version of Beta does not check for cookies
nor data miners.
If you had taken just a few minutes to read a few other
posts (even if only to give us the impression that you are
indeed serious about doing some beta testing), you would
have noticed that this particular issue had already been
looked after. Probably close to 12000 times.
This is just a friendly reminder that a lot of time is
saved by checking previous posts. Thanks.

I would have to agree since this is mentioned in many other
posts, a little reading would have answered his question.

One thing that would help is the Search function. Does
anyone know that status of that? Once a thread rolls off
the first screen, I doubt that it is seen again.

I don't know why the search function was disabled. I tend to suspect
politico/legal reasons rather than technical ones.

At the time, I had hoped that it was an indication that we might soon move
to a newer HTML interface than is now in use, but that hasn't proved to be
true--at least the "soon" part.

I can expand a bit on this. If you have a broadband connection, and want
the ability to search these groups, use NNTP.

Go to the web interface to the groups under Help, and read the information
in the top panel--be sure to scroll down--there's a password and username
involved.

You can use the NNTP reader of your choice--one easy one to find, which I
use myself, is Microsoft Outlook Express.

Once the groups are set up and you pull in full text of the message, you
have full search capabilities--even more so if use a desktop search agent
such as those from MSN or Google.

NNTP is also much more effective on connections where the time online costs
$.

Jeez, why the attitude?

As a matter of fact I did read "a few" other posts. The
information (namely, that this beta does not check for
cookies) may have been posted "12000 times", but I didn't
see it. Nor did I see any post titles that indicate this
info. Sorry to have wasted your time, but I don't recall
twisting your arm to write me a reply - let alone a rude,
insolent and insulting one.

But it is not prominently displayed on the MS anti-
spyware download home page. Yes I would have learned
this if I had read everything poste. And yes I would
have learned this if I had looked at the faq. But who
would think to look for this there? Moreover, who would
think that MS would issue a beta release that doesn't
check for cookies.... which are a very large class of the
problem.
