Andy, thanks for your response. Windows 2000 does not
support the "system restore" feature, to the best of my
knowledge. I did find a way to get my PC backup and
running. I was using DriveImage7 to make system level
backups. I eventually got around the enter "setup" mode
during the restart procedure and was able to restore my
harddrive from the backup image taken previously by
DriveImage7. The reboot after this restore was successful.
What a relief!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who thinks backups are not
important may want to rethink that logic. I am now
planning on moving to windows xp professional, since
Windows 2000 is fairly old and may not be supported in the
future (software lifecycle issue). However, even with the
system restore feature, I think I will continue system
backups. Again thanks Andy!!

Hi Again Gary

That is good news Im glad you had DriveImage7 in place to
restore your system, It still leaves the question of what
damaged the system but its great you managed to get round
this and didnt have to re install,

I didnt think system restore was available to you on
windows 2000 but that would of been my first suggestion
on other machines where this feature is active especially
when its as serious as this and not re-booting, luckily
you had this restore in DriveImage and I agree these
restore's are very important and a valued feature for
when things go wrong like this.

Ive not seen any other reports like this on here and
hopefully there will not be any others as this is the
last thing you need or expect when running Antispy
application's but thankyou for letting us know you was
able to restore and get things back to the way they
should be.

All the best

Andy
