I have a db file from Win98 Access that won't open using MS Office 97 in XP.
I'm transfering files from a desktop to a laptop. Other files have
transfered with no problem. This one won't open. It has a file extension
of .mdb. An error message appears saying "Unrecognized database
format........" Hope you can help!!

Greetings --

What specific version of Access was used to create the database?
Access 97 won't be able to open a file created by Access 2000 or
Access 2002.

Thanks for your reply. Office 2000 is on the desktop. BUT since I last
wrote, I found out that the original data base was created on the '97
version and was "converted" to read on 2000. I was able to "revert back"
the DB and have loaded on to the laptop. This allowes me to open the file,
however I get a dialog box that makes reference to "debug" from a menu drop
down box that I have not been able to locate. As a side note, I tried to
install the original Office 2000 but it wouldn't accept the key code that
came with the disk.
