I have one user who suddenly can not open reports in access. There is no
eventlog error, but when he clicks on a report either a current report or
design a report nothing happens (very brief hour glass). Tables, queries,
forms all open fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the entire office
2003 proffessional program. The same thing occurs.

When I try to open a current report - nothing. When I try to design a new
report I get a message that the database can not be opened for exclusive
use. (the database is a local copy - no one else can open it). The user
belongs to a group that has rights to modify all reports. I have opened the
database using the database owner / administrator account and the same thing
occurs.

The same error occurs with every database I have tried. The error does not
occur for these databases opened from another computer.

The user is on a windows 2000 sp4 computer with the windows 2000 jet 8.0
update applied.

The next step will be to format and start over - I hate doing that,
particularly when I don't know what is causing the problem.

Try changing the default printer and see if it works. I
had a similar problem once and it was a corrupt print
driver.

Beautiful - thank you. I changed the default printer for that user and all
is right with the world.
