Hello Everyone,

I'm getting several MRxSb warnings with eventid 3034. The message is as
follows "The redirector was unable to initialize security context or query
context attributes"

Does anyone have expierance with this error? I've tied looking at the tech
articles in Microsoft but didn't see one that really applied to me. I also
don't have the SDK avalable as suggested in the one article. Any insite
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Andy

I don't know offhand but I would verify that dns is configured correctly in the
domain in that domain controllers point to themselves for the pdcfsmo as their
preferred dns server and that all domain computers point only to AD domain
controllers running dns with the domain zone. Run the netdiag support tool on the
computer looking for pertinent failed tests and see the link below from Eventid.net
if you have not already. --- Steve

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321708 -- netdiag and how to
install it.

I ran the one utlity netdiag using the DNS test option.

At the end I get the error

"Unable to allocate memory, exit verify" when verifying the DNS
regeistration.

Now I'm more puzzled.

Is that the only error you get when running the whole netdiag test? What service pack
are you using? Is this happening on a domain controller? --- Steve

Server has Service pack 4 on it. This is not a domain controller.

here is a brief description of how things are set up here.

We are an OU in a massive active directory domain. Currently we are working
to migrate from a trusted downlevel domain to this OU. With that
consideration, we are working with 2 DNS namespaces: one for the downlevel
and the other for the large Active Directory. The machines in question were
brought up in the Active Dir domain. After some checking, most machines
that were migrated to the new domain from the old NT4, also have the errors,
making this more widespread.

Hi Andy.

I don't have any more ideas on your problem. I would suggest however posting in the
win2000.dns and win2000.active_directory newsgroups with the explanation of your
migration and resulting errors as you posted here. --- Steve

Thanks for you help.

We are in the process of taking what information we have gathered to this
point and escalating it to the group who manages Active Dir.
