I have a problem with one computer on my network
generating the following error message:
Source: MRxSmb
Event ID: 8003
Description:
The master browser has received a server announcement from
the computer "computer name" that believes that it is the
master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_
{xxxxxxxxxx. The master browser is stopping or an election
is being forced.

My network does not span over multiple subnets as
suggested in some of the MS Knowledge base articles and
only one out of 20 computers is generating the error
message.

Any ideas what might be causing this error?

This is because the computer with Computer Name is trying to become the
master browser which is causing a browser election. What OS are you
running. Do a search on MS site about "Maintain Server List" There is a
Reg entry that you can make to stop this from occurring.

Ozone,

Thanks for the replay. I'll look up the MS site as you
recommended. Concerning the OS it is a WXP client on a W2k
Server.
